West Virginia Junior College- Bridgeport Awards Scholarships

West Virginia Junior College- Bridgeport awards over $30,000 in scholarships annually to deserving, local high school seniors. It is our great pleasure to announce the 2015 recipients.  Each of these students has shown excellence in the area in which their award was based. 

These students have received one or more of the following scholarships:  The Stephen A. Callen Honorary Scholarship is based on community involvement and future plans and is the largest scholarship offered at WVJC; The High School Achievement Scholarship is awarded based on an essay submitted by the student regarding their secondary school achievements; and the Examination Scholarship is a scholarship awarded based on the results of an examination in which the top four overall scores receive an award.  We wish to congratulate each of the recipients on their accomplishments.   

 

Sierra EversonPhilip Barbour High School Senior, Sierra Everson, received the Stephen A. Callen Honorary Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 to assist her as she studies to become a Medical Assistant.  Sierra is the daughter of Stacey Kelley of Belington.

 

 

 

 

Kayla SwisherKayla Swisher, East Fairmont High School Senior, earned one of the top scores on the scholarship exam to receive an Examination Scholarship in the amount of $1,250. She will use this to pursue an Associate Degree as a Dental Assistant beginning in June.  Kayla is the daughter of Jennifer Swisher-Keener of Fairmont.

 

 

 

 

Katelynn KimballKatelynn Kimball, Doddridge County High School senior, earned a High School Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $1,250.  She will begin working toward her Associate Degree in Dental Assisting in June.  Katelynn is the daughter of Matt and Theresa Kimball of Smithburg.

 

 

 

 

Taylor TuckerTaylor Tucker, Lincoln High School Senior, received the Stephen A. Callen Honorary Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 to assist her as she pursues an Associate Degree in the Medical Assisting field beginning in June.  Taylor is the daughter of Heather Tucker of Lumberport.

 

 

 

 

Kayle SmithKayle Smith, North Marion High School Senior, received the High School Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $1,250.  She will begin college in August to earn her Associate Degree in Information Technology.  She is the daughter of Richard and Kendra Smith of Mannington.

 

 

 

 

Ciara JunkinsCiara Junkins, Gilmer County High School, earned one of the top scores on the scholarship exam to receive an Examination Scholarship in the amount of $1,250. She will pursue an Associate Degree in Medical Assisting beginning in August.  She is the daughter of Charles and Becky Junkins of Glenville.

 

 

 

 

Linda MillerLinda Miller, of Gilmer County High School, received the Stephen A. Callen Honorary Scholarship in the amount of $2,500. Linda will begin her pursuit of an Associate Degree in Dental Assisting beginning in June. She is the daughter of Patricia Stump of Normantown.

 

 

 

 

Vannessa CrimVannessa Crim, Lewis County High School Senior, received a High School Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $1,250 to assist her as she studies to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Vannessa is the daughter of Ervin and Patricia Crim of Weston.

 

 

 

 

Savannah RoseBraxton County High School Senior, Savannah Rose, received the Stephen A. Callen Honorary Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 to assist her as she pursues an Associate Degree in Dental Assisting beginning in June.  Savannah is the daughter of Billy and Sandy Rose of Little Birch.

 

 

 

 

Latisha RiffleLatisha Riffle, Gilmer County High School Senior, received a High School Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $1,250 to assist her as she pursues an Associate Degree as a Dental Assistant beginning in June.  Latisha is the daughter of John Riffle of Troy, WV and Rhonda Riffle of Glenville, WV.

 

 

 

 

Samantha ThomasSamantha Thomas, of Lincoln High School, received the Stephen A. Callen Honorary Scholarship in the amount of $2,500. She will use this scholarship to assist her as she pursues her Associate Degree in Medical Assisting beginning in August.  Samantha is the daughter of Crystal Thomas of Enterprise and Robert Watkins of Joetown.

 

 

 

 

Morgan WilsonMorgan Wilson, a senior at Philip Barbour High School, received a High School Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $1,250. Morgan will be seeking her Associate Degree in Medical Assisting in September.  She is the daughter of Lori Wilson and Steve Wilson, both of Belington.

 

 

 

 

Vanessa Jo ParkerVanessa Jo Parker, senior at Lewis County High School, earned the Stephen A. Callen Honorary Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 to assist her as she pursues an Associate Degree in Medical Assisting beginning in September.  Vanessa is the daughter of Danny and Kathleen Dodd of Weston.

 

 

 

 

Sabrina BaileySabrina Bailey, a senior at Gilmer County High School, received the High School Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $1,250.  She will begin her pursuit of an Associate Degree in Medical Assisting in August.  Sabrina is the daughter of Kathy Bailey of Sand Fork.

 

 

 

 

Alexandria ShaverAlexandria Shaver, Senior at Fairmont Senior High School, earned one of the top scores on the scholarship exam to receive an Examination Scholarship in the amount of $1,250. She will use this to pursue an Associate Degree as a Pharmacy Technician in August.  She is the daughter Jim and Angie Shaver of Fairmont.

 

 

 

 

Shayla McIeShayla McIe, Liberty High School Senior, received the High School Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $1,250. She will begin college in August to earn her Associate Degree as a Pharmacy Technician.  Shayla is the granddaughter of Peggy Miller from Clarksburg and the daughter of Amity and Eric McIe, also of Clarskburg.

 

 

 

 

Toni CallenderToni Callender, a Liberty High School Senior, received the High School Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $1,250.  She will begin college in August to earn her Associate Degree as a Pharmacy Technician.  Toni is the daughter of David Callender of Clarksburg and Laura Callender of Bridgeport.

 

 

 

 

Kayleen MyersKayleen Myers, Robert C. Byrd High School Senior, received the High School Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $1,250. She will begin college in June to earn her Associate Degree in Dental Assisting.  She is the daughter of April Myers of Quiet Dell and Brian Myers of Clarksburg.
