Throughout the 12 months of accelerated career-focused classes, WVJC medical office students receive training in electronic health records, medical office procedures, and basic billing and coding that contribute to managing healthcare systems.

Medical Office Externship and Certification


The West Virginia Junior College 12-Month Medical Office Administration diploma program is a sequential and integrated hands-on course of study preparing students to develop skills, confidence, and functional knowledge for healthcare careers.

Externships are field placements arranged towards the end of the Medical Office Administration program and allow students to apply learned knowledge and abilities to a live patient care environment.

Certifications are typically administered by an industry-specific credentialing organization and provide evidence to employers that graduates have a standard degree of competency in a particular career role.
