Accreditation and Licensing
West Virginia Junior College is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) to award associate degrees and diplomas. ABHES is a national accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.
Permit to operate issued by the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education.
The West Virginia Junior College – Morgantown, Bridgeport, and Charleston Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) programs are approved by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses.
The associate degree nursing program at West Virginia Junior College at the Morgantown campus, located in Morgantown, WV, is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the associate degree nursing program is Initial Accreditation.
Effective September 22, 2021, the associate degree nursing program at West Virginia Junior College located in Cross Lanes, WV, is a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This candidacy status expires on September 22, 2023.
Effective May 13, 2022, the associate degree nursing program at West Virginia Junior College, located in Bridgeport, WV, is a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This candidacy status expires on May 13, 2024.
West Virginia Junior College – Bridgeport Practical Nursing program is approved by the West Virginia State Board of Practical Nursing.
West Virginia Junior College offers some programs that are approved by the State Approving Agency for students to use veterans’ benefits.
