Discover Our Direct Admission Program

The WVJC Online Nursing program is a direct admission program. This means, once accepted, you’re guaranteed a seat in the nursing training program and will not need to complete years of pre-nursing general classes.

It is well known that the healthcare industry is experiencing a critical shortage of qualified and caring nurses who can competently provide quality healthcare, meeting the needs of patients. This chronic deficiency of skilled nurses is especially a reality in rural areas of a state like West Virginia.

WVJC Online’s direct admission Nursing program precludes students from enduring the wait and stress of taking unnecessary and unrelated classes while waiting to be accepted into the Nursing program.

The accelerated, hybrid Nursing online classes and clinical practice, combined with the direct admission acceptance policy, allows WVJC Online nursing students to earn their Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) while preparing for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). *

*Passing the NCLEX – RN exam is required to become a Registered Nurse.

“I recommend WVJC to anyone that is looking to further their career!”  – Drea Harris, WVJC Student

Local Clinical, Training, and Mobile Facilities

WVJC Online supports its nursing students with opportunities to develop critical nursing skills at regional or local technical centers, hospitals, medical facilities, and the WVJC Online Mobile Nursing Lab (MNL).

Students are required to travel to local technical centers and medical facilities to apply nursing techniques and deliver the quality care they’ve been taught in the WVJC Online classroom.

These valuable interactive lab experiences will be supported by the MNL, an RV configured and outfitted with two fully equipped patient care rooms containing adult, obstetrics, and pediatric high fidelity simulations; a control room with two controller stations; advanced technology for recording and reviewing student practice; internal cellular internet capabilities and an exterior TV for participants outside of the MNL.

The MNL will travel to the various rural areas of West Virginia to augment the students’ nursing education.

RN to BSN through WVJC Online

WVJC Online is excited to offer a 12-month online RN to BSN program through the WVJC School of Nursing, allowing students to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Upon passing the NCLEX-RN exam, RNs can begin their nursing careers while simultaneously earning their BSN. This program is designed for registered nurses (RNs) with an associate degree in nursing (ADN) who want to advance their careers.

WVJC ADN graduates auto-qualify for the BSN Pathway Scholarship* upon being accepted into the program. Students who graduate from WVJC with their ADN and immediately continue to the RN to BSN program could have their BSN in less than three years! This can give students a head start in their careers, save time and money, and allow them to advance their education.

*For those who qualify. See catalog for detailed eligibility requirements.
