CHARLESTON, WV – West Virginia Junior College Charleston is excited to introduce our new Campus President, Erik Engberg!
Erik chose to work with WVJC because the school truly believes in the success of the student above all else. “While it requires a lot more work on our part than you might see at a traditional college or university, it pays off so much more in the end when you see the students succeed, sometimes against all odds” said Engberg.
His favorite part of working at WVJC Charleston is the people. “It takes a special kind of ‘crazy’ to have this much fun, work this hard, and support each other so well every day, and these people have it. “
Erik also shares some fun facts so we can get to know him better. “One thing people don’t know about me is that even though my face is very expressive, I apparently don’t know how to smile. So if I look like I’m angry, that usually means I’m in a good mood. I’ve been married to the same wonderful woman for 21 years and we have three daughters; ages 19, 12, and 7. We have four indoor cats, and based on comments from my wife and kids, we’ll be getting some outdoor chickens and possibly sheep now that we’ve found a house with some space in the yard. My favorite TV shows right now are “The Walking Dead,” “Gravity Falls,” “Big Bang Theory,” “Sleepy Hollow,” “Suits” and “Castle.” I try to read two fun books every month and so far I’m at 23 for the year. The best books I’ve read this year come from the Ender’s Game series, and the worst disappointment was Allegiant, the last book in the Divergent trilogy.”
