How WVJC Recognized
Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and WVJC took this time to educate its students on the importance of understanding this disease. As future healthcare professionals, it is critical that our medical assisting students learn about the prevention, examination, treatment, and surgical recovery process of breast cancer. Carrie Friend, the Medical Externship Coordinator, spent an entire class period celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month with her students. She provided them with a special class lecture on the topic. This was an excellent opportunity for the students to go beyond their curriculum and study something that hugely impacts the community. The students participated in the celebration by wearing their pink attire to class for the lecture.
