When the holiday season arrives, it can be hard to stay on top of your work or get started in preparing for the upcoming semester. With this in mind, we wanted to provide some tips for maintaining productivity and effectively balancing your time between studying and spending time with loved ones. Read on to learn about some of the things you can do this holiday season that will help you keep up!
1. Make a Schedule
Plan around parties, shopping, and everything else you have in store during the holiday season by making a schedule and setting aside time to get some work done.
- Setting alarms or reminders on your phone in advance is a good way for you to remember if you have any pending plans
- Make an event of it! Call friends to meet up for a studying session, or to go buy textbooks together
2. Stay Organized
One of the easiest ways to ensure you can be productive over break is to find a space at home that you can dedicate to working on school materials. Set up a mini-office with notepads, sticky notes, pens, and whatever else you need.
Make sure the space is also clear of distractions so you can be focused and do what you need to do without having other things interfere.
If you found that using a planner or any similar type of organization system was helpful in the past for keeping your tasks in order, pick them up again to ensure you can reap the same rewards!
3. Find Quiet Time Outside the House
From siblings to cousins to distant relatives, the holidays are often times when the whole family comes into town. This may mean you lose out on finding peace and quiet in the comfort of your own home.
We recently wrote a helpful post featuring places around Pittsburgh where students can complete their online courses. Many of the places we listed are great for students looking for a relaxing space where they can get in the zone and get down to business.
Some of the places we featured included:
4. Take Breaks When Needed
Even though it is important to make sure you stay on track with your work and planning while you aren’t in school, it’s also important to not neglect the time off you need after completing a stressful semester!
Make sure that you don’t drain yourself too much by overworking and not getting proper rest during your break. And be sure to give your family and friends the attention they desire and time they deserve during the holidays as well!
