Discover WVJC Online’s Dental Assisting Program!
Are you interested in becoming a dynamic dental and oral care team member? WVJC Online is proud to offer online Dental Assisting courses highlighting many essential oral care aspects. “I am excited to share this new program and expand opportunities for people throughout West Virginia and surrounding states,” said Jamie Stine, Dental Assisting Program Director.
During this program, students will study wide-ranging and essential skills, including assisting in dental procedures, infection control, sterilization techniques, managing patient records, developing radiographs, scheduling procedures, and so much more. Not only does the Dental Assisting program prepare you to be career-ready, but it’s also designed to prepare you for the Nationally Registered Credentialed Dental Assistant (NRCDA)* certification exam.
Near the end of their online dental assisting classes and interactive lab experiences, students are required to complete an externship in various general and specialty dentistry offices! They receive on-the-job training that allows them to test the knowledge and skills they developed in their coursework while learning valuable lessons in customer service and patient satisfaction. After completing this program, graduates can pursue a satisfying career working alongside dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and periodontists.
You can earn your associate’s degree In just 18 months, and this online program prepares our graduates to be career ready! “This program is very unique because students are only required to participate in five in-person clinical sessions. The remainder of the classes outside of externship is online,” said Stine. This unique structure is designed to accommodate those that may struggle to find the time to pursue their education!
