Adam’s History at WVJC

Adam’s journey with WVJC is a testament to his career progression and dedication. His journey, which began as a High School Presenter, saw him transition into the role of a High School Admissions Coordinator. In this capacity, he not only presented WVJC as a post-graduation option to high school students but also managed their admissions process, showcasing his commitment to their educational journey.

Then, in 2018, Adam moved to the WVJC Morgantown campus as the Director of Business Operations. In his five years in this role, he played a large part in the operations of the campus, including writing grant proposals, organizing events, overseeing the Nursing department, and much more.

In 2023, his experience and passion for WVJC led him to the Bridgeport campus’s Campus Director role, where he works closely with students to help them achieve their goals. “As a Campus Director, my favorite part of the position is working with and getting to know the students,” Adam said. “Students are the reason we are here.”

A Passion For Change

Adam has devoted his professional life to helping students achieve their goals of a better future. Initially, he decided to start his career as a WVJC high school presenter after graduating from Fairmont State University because it sounded like a fun opportunity, but he says it has become a passion over the years. “The work that we do and the education that we provide matter. It matters to our students, our communities, and the employers that hire our graduates,” Adam said.

One of his role’s benefits is working closely with the WVJC Bridgeport campus students. The WVJC staff guides students through their educational journey from their first visit to campus through graduation. Adam states that graduation is one of his favorite events because it culminates a student’s experience and success. “Watching the students learn how to work in their respective fields, better the lives of both themselves and their families, and go out to work in the communities that we serve provides a sense of satisfaction and pride that I could not begin to properly describe,” he said.

“WVJC is a part of the fabric of my life”

Not only is Adam dedicated to the student experience, but his wife also works for the organization. “My kids have grown up watching us change people’s lives,” he said. Outside of work, Adam states that his time for hobbies is limited. Still, he enjoys fishing for all fish species in and outside West Virginia. He says he loves being in the West Virginia mountains, but if he could go anywhere in the world, he would choose to visit Alaska for a few weeks.

When asked who inspires him, Adam shares that he finds inspiration in several people. “I think that I learned kindness from my mother and my work ethic from my father,” he said. However, I see inspiration in people every day. One of the great things about my job is learning the stories of students and employees. So many of them have these empowering and inspirational stories. I have learned as much from all of them as they have learned from WVJC.”
