Medical Assisting – WVJC Online Program Highlight

Clinical studentAt West Virginia Junior College our online Medical Assisting program is unique when compared to medical assisting programs offered at other online schools. This is because we incorporate a hands-on approach unlike the simulations that other institutions provide. We offer hands on, real life situations and techniques so our students know exactly what they will be dealing with when they go out into the professional world.

During the eighteen months our students attend West Virginia Junior College they will have eight hands on clinical courses at the ground campus most convenient to where they are located. These clinical courses are offered to teach students real life medical skills that they will encounter on a daily basis working in the medical field. Some examples of skills that are taught are blood draws, vitals and running labs. “We feel this is the only way to develop an effective, safe, and successful medical assisting professional,” said Online Campus Director Chad Callen.

In addition to learning the skills they will need daily, our students are able to build amazing relationships with one another and their lab instructors. Online Medical CooGroup of clinical studentsrdinator, Rayan Matthews, who gets to know all of our students one on one said, “being able to develop with my students and teach them skills I know they will use as professional is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things I have ever done.”

At West Virginia Junior College we are a family, and who wouldn’t want the best for their family? This is why we offer students in-depth courses that are convenient for them. We want to see our students succeed in the professional workplace once they graduate from West Virginia Junior College!
