Jamie has several reasons for attending WVJC Bridgeport, but convenience was definitely a deciding factor.
She explained, “WVJC Bridgeport was closer to home and it only takes 18 months for me to complete my program. I only have class four days a week and when I took a tour of the campus, I met the people at the campus and that made it official for me…I met some really nice people on-campus.
Jamie always knew she wanted a career in the medical field. She explained, “I did my research and found out that as a Medical Assistant, I do more than just vitals; I get to do EKG’s and Phlebotomy, as well. I have always wanted to do phlebotomy so when I found out this program at WVJC Bridgeport taught it, it was the perfect fit for me.”
Jamie loves the lab classes because of the hands-on experience and very much appreciates her instructor, Mrs. Lesson because she makes Lab so much more fun. She also loves the atmosphere because everyone is nice and everyone knows you by name, not just a number.
“My biggest supporter is my fiancé,” said Jamie. “He is always there for me when I get really stressed out and if I am having trouble with my homework, he will help me figure it out. He’s a mechanic, so I know he doesn’t know very much about healthcare, but he tries. He also helps with the kids so I can complete my homework and do well in my classes.”
Jamie would like to thank Chasity Duarte who was her Admissions Representative when she decided to attend WVJC Bridgeport. “She was right on top of things and if for her not calling and reminding me, I probably wouldn’t have made it to orientation,” said Jamie. She also would like to thank Michelle Hill-Campbell for being there for her when she needed it most.
