Taylor Miller is getting ready to graduate from the Medical Office Administration program. Prior to finding her passion in the medical field, Taylor worked as a cosmetologist. She worked in the field until she decided that it was time to make the permanent move from Florida to West Virginia. During that time, she let her cosmetology license expire. In 2018 Taylor decided to refresh her skills and attend a hairstyling program. However, due to hand injuries, she was unable to make hairstyling her full-time career. Taylor was determined to find a new career path that would be good for herself and her children as well.
Taylor chose WVJC because of the flexibility that it allowed her. She could still manage to be the mom that she needed to be while obtaining her degree. Taylor chose the Medical Office Administration program because she wanted to get her foot in the door of the medical field. After putting her newly found knowledge to work at a physician’s office, she quickly realized that she wanted to do more. Taylor wants to be more involved within a physician’s office. For that reason, upon completion of her Medical Office Administration program, Taylor plans on continuing her education here at WVJC and obtaining her Clinical Medical Assistant degree. Taylors ideal job after graduation would be to work in an OB/GYN office. As a woman who has found herself in different situations, it would be great to interact with other women who may be going through something that she has gone through so they know that they aren’t alone. “I also know what becoming a mom for the first time (or the fourth time) is like. I would love to be able to help new and existing moms!”
Taylor said, “Other than learning about a new career, I’d have to say the staff is my favorite part of WVJC. From the admissions advisors, instructors, program directors, to the academic dean. Every single one of them are there for you and your future, and it shows through the passion they have for their students. I would absolutely refer a friend to WVJC. I have learned so much from my time here, and the staff is incredible! They will work with you through anything. And I mean, anything. They care about your education, and they also care about you as a person. You aren’t just a number at WVJC. You’re a real human being to them.”
