Steps to Apply for Admission to the Nursing Program at WVJC Charleston Campus

West Virginia Junior College (WVJC) Charleston Campus is excited to offer an 18-month nursing program. This program focuses on competitive skills in a patient focused, critical care discipline, that is in high demand. Our nursing program is a direct admission program, which means you won’t waste time and money taking classes, only to find out later that you are not accepted into the program.

Interested applicants should apply now for upcoming enrollment in September 2020. Consideration for admission to the Nursing Program is based on the following:

  • All Applicants

o Nursing Program Application and Related Components Completed

o Entrance Exam Results

o Interview with the College Representative

  • Applicants Having a High School Diploma Only

o 3.0 CGPA

OR

o TEAS Requirements Met

  • Applicants Having a High School Equivalency (TASC/GED, etc.) Only

o TEAS Requirements Met

  • Applicants Having 12 Credits or More of College Education

o 2.50 CGPA or Higher

o TEAS Requirements Met

Individuals interested in the nursing program should follow these procedures:

(1) Attend the institution’s nursing information session

(2) Take the nursing entrance exam

(3) Apply to the nursing program

(4) Interview with a campus representative

(5) Receive notification of admission decision

(6) Complete enrollment paperwork, financial planning, and submit seat fee

(7) Complete required screening, immunizations, background checks, and acquire supplies

  • No Guarantee of Admission – Admission to the nursing program is highly competitive. Submission and completion of the minimum admission requirements does NOT guarantee admittance to the program.
  • Licensure Eligibility – Requirements to become a registered nurse are evolving as the practice of nursing evolves. Generally, the requirements are becoming more stringent. Before starting classes, you should go to your state nursing board website (WVBON website address is: http://wvrnboard.wv.gov) to review and confirm that you can meet the eligibility requirements to become a registered nurse.
