Medical Assisting: Clinical Laboratory Procedures

In the Clinical Laboratory Procedures course, students are introduced to urinalysis, phlebotomy, hematology, chemistry, serology, and medical microbiology. They specifically focus on learning about specimen collection, handling, testing, and selected examinations. In this particular session of CLP, WVJC students practiced their phlebotomy skills. Each of the students took turns preparing their materials and retrieving a blood sample from a patient. This took place after several sticks on a mannequin arm to allow them adequate time to practice their technique.
