CAMC – WVJC Partnership

Charleston Area Medical Center and WVJC have joined forces to establish the WVJC School of Nursing at CAMC. This partnership between two of West Virginia’s most respected organizations will increase and improve access to nursing education. The WVJC-Charleston campus has entered into a Contracting Agreement with Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) for the delivery of clinical and lab instruction. For those students who receive clinical or lab instruction at a CAMC facility, the delivery of this instruction could be in accordance with that contractual agreement, and it would not exceed 49% of the total program.

CAMC’s mission is “striving to provide the best health care to patients every day.” Established in 1972, CAMC is home to a nationally recognized heart and vascular center, the largest cancer center in West Virginia, a regional neurosciences center, a kidney transplant center, the highest-level trauma center, and a dedicated women and children’s hospital. Nursing at CAMC

WVJC has three residential campuses in West Virginia, located in Charleston, Bridgeport, and Morgantown. The curriculum is career-focused in nursing, allied health, business, and technology. Many programs are available online or as hybrid programs to help students balance family, work, and college.

“WVJC is the best school I have attended! The whole staff is amazing with helping and understanding!”

– Sonia Harper, WVJC Student

Direct Admission CAMC Tuition Assistance

The WVJC School of Nursing at CAMC applies a direct admission policy, so incoming students begin the nursing program immediately. Once accepted, you’re guaranteed a seat in the nursing training program and will not need to complete years of pre-nursing general classes.

CAMC offers tuition assistance to eligible WVJC School of Nursing at CAMC students who have been accepted into the program. The tuition assistance allows students to pursue their desire to attend nursing school.  It also allows students to acclimate to the CAMC culture and build relationships with potential future colleagues.

The WVJC School of Nursing at CAMC offers its didactic classes online, allowing students some flexibility within work schedules and school schedules. Lab requirements and clinical rotations may occur at a CAMC medical facility or a mobile nursing lab.

Graduates will be conferred an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)*.

*Passing the NCLEX-RN exam is required to become a Registered Nurse.

“I appreciate everything they have done, and I would recommend this school to anybody looking to go to school for anything they offer.” – Bianca Young, WVJC Student
