The West Virginia Junior College Morgantown campus students are gearing up for this year’s Monongalia County Relay for Life.
The Relay will be held May 31, beginning and 4 p.m. and lasting through the night, at the Hazel and JW Ruby Community Center (Mylan Park Expo Center). A team of students and staff will be representing the school and kicking off the walk together, followed by setting up their “campsite” which consists of two tables. Students and staff will be selling hotdogs and nachos. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and will go toward the WVJC Team fundraising goals.
Other groups and organizations will be scattered throughout the center, providing games, food and fun for participants. Hundreds of luminaries will be lit in honor of cancer survivors and in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. Organizers will turn off the lights as the luminaries glow. An emotional ceremony will follow.
Students, faculty and staff who are interested in helping the WVJC meet this year’s $500 goal are encouraged to donate by visiting the WVJC Relay for Life Team page.
