Student Highlight – Bill Miller

bill millerMeet West Virginia Junior College Bridgeport Campus student and Military veteran, Bill Miller.  Bill served in the Army National Guard while a service member.  After spending several years in the workforce, Bill decided to attend WVJC to become a Medical Assistant.  He chose WVJC because he “heard it was a good college to attend, and the teachers help as much as possible.”

He decided on the Medical Assisting program because of his prior medical experience working as an EMS with Harrison and Taylor counties. “It was a very rewarding job helping people who need help, and it made me want a career in the medical field.”

Going back to school can be a challenge for some, however Bill loves it!  “I am getting the chance to better myself and to pursue the career I’ve always dreamed about!  The teachers and staff are great and will always go the extra mile to help a student.”

“My biggest supporter would be my classmate, Brittany Lane-Brock.  When I start to slack on my homework, she is there to encourage me.  She says ‘you can’t make the grade if you don’t do the work.’”

Students at WVJC often bond with teachers, classmates, or staff members that are especially supportive.  “I would like to thank Chasity Duarte for coming to the VA Hospital and talking to us about attending college.  She helped me decide to go after a new career.”
