Charleston, WV- West Virginia Junior College Charleston says “Thank you” to a beloved faculty member. Ms. Lucinda Campbell, Medical Program Chair, has served Medical students at the campus for over three decades, impacted thousands of lives and is going to take on a new role in 2016…the role of retiree.
It is true, if you are friends with Ms. Campbell on Facebook it is easily noticed that the impact she has made goes far beyond the college campus. On December 17, 2015 she announced her retirement to students in an inspiring and uplifting status.
“To all my students,
I’ve enjoyed sharing part of your journey. Enjoy who you are, remembering you are a planned, chosen child of God. So, always marvel in who you are and who you are destined to be.
It’s been thirty years of honor.
Love to each of you, Momma C.”
The announcement had over 50 likes and numerous comments within a few minutes. Past and present students commented with their gratitude and well wishes for a happy and relaxing retirement.
Many comments were similar to recent graduate Rashell White’s reply to Ms. Campbell’s status, “Thank you for everything Mrs. Campbell, you’ve been such a huge help to us. I couldn’t thank you enough for everything you have done for me, I couldn’t have made it this far without you. I love you.”
While Ms. Campbell will no longer be on campus she has left a lasting legacy of inspiring the minds of students, supporting them in all situations and giving them insight and opportunities in their professional careers.
As of December 31, 2015 Ms. Campbell will hang up her lab coat one last time and enjoy the retirement she truly deserves. From all WVJC faculty, staff, students and alumni we say, “Thank you, Ms. Campbell!”
