June is a month of relaxation for most high school seniors. They have just graduated high school and are enjoying that last bit of time before that next chapter of their life begins. However, On Friday June 20, 2014, recent graduates from 13 area high schools took some time away from their summer relaxation to attend West Virginia Junior College-Bridgeport for its annual Freshman Experience Day.
Newly graduated high school seniors, along with their friends and family, attend this event as a prequel to orientation. It is a great kick-off to this new chapter in their life. Participants were able to get some informal introductions to staff and faculty and hear from Mark McMillion, a local leadership and motivational speaker. Student also attended a picnic that included games and great prizes sponsored by local businesses.
Paige Peters, High School Admissions Representative had this to say about the event. “This is a great day where our entire campus comes together to welcome these recent high school graduates to the WVJC family.”
