CHARLESTON, WV – West Virginia Junior College, Charleston is excited to announce the formation of its official Alumni Association! The group was initiated by the Regional Director of Career Services Julie Warden.
“We wanted to find a way for students to stay connected to the school after they graduate,” Julie said. “I think this is a great way to make sure everyone is working and happy. I’m very excited to get all of our alumni associations up and running!”
The alumni association’s first event was the “Jingle and Mingle” open house, a holiday get together that was held in the WVJC Charleston student lounge on Thursday, December 6. Alumni and their families were invited to ring in the holiday season with friends and staff. There was even an appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus!
All alumni were given a free t-shirt for attending. Overall, over 70 people attended, 20 of which were alumni.
The alumni association is continuing its development. In the near future, workshops will be offered on resume writing, job searching and professional image. There will also be more open house events that allow former students to connect with their friends and teachers. Be sure to stay up to date on upcoming events by following WVJC Charleston on Facebook and Twitter.
Alumni associations will be coming to all campuses very soon. Keep your eyes open for more information. If you are interested in joining the WVJC Charleston group, please stop by the Career Services office.
