In May, the campus welcomed Michelle Miles to the team. Miles, a Commmunications graduate from West Virginia University, went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership at the University of Charleston and then her MBA with University of Phoenix. Although she is new to the Charleston campus, she is very familiar with WVJC, the Charleston area and our programs.
As a Charleston, WV native, Michelle planted her roots in South Charleston. For the past nine years she has worked at Frontier as the Maintenance Administrator, and has also taught WVJC online courses. She has immense knowledge in many different areas, which is very beneficial for students. Afterall, the students are her main priority!
“I am very excited and passionate about helping students further their education and ultimately find great careers,” states Michelle.
As the Academic Dean, Michelle assists students with their coursework, scheduling and any additional academic situations. However, that is not the only reason Michelle wants students to stop by her office.
“I want students to stop by, introduce themselves…say ‘Hi’”. I have an open door policy and am accessible to students when they need me.”
When Michelle is not on campus she enjoyes spending time with her family. They enjoy sharing meals together, watching TV and relaxing by the pool (in the summer).
When you are on campus, especially if you are on a campus tour, be sure to stop by Michelle’s office and say “Hi”!
