Imagine America Foundation Scholarship Recipients

haley mulhollandWest Virginia Junior College – Bridgeport Campus students Haley Mulholland and Chase Murphy were honored last week as recipients of the Imagine America Promise Scholarship Program for 2015. With only 22 recipients in the nation this year, these two students have had to show an immense amount of dedication to receive this award. Among other qualifications, this scholarship requires that the student be recommended by their college, complete two essays, have a 3.5 or higher GPA, and have an attendance record of at least 95%.

Haley Mulholland graduated from Lewis County High School in 2014. From a young age, she has had a desire to become a medical professional. Since beginning her post-secondary studies at WVJC 9 months ago, she has been continuously humbled by the opportunities presented to her. “As a Medical Assistant, I have so many opportunities for additional certifications. Attending this college has helped me see more clearly, too, all that lies ahead of me.” Haley has also been a positive addition to the classroom. Jenica Frye, Academic Dean, had this to say; “She is a positive influence in class and contributes to the success of the class by engaging in classroom discussion, being prepared for class work, and meeting deadlines for projects. She is a very energetic student who is always willing to learn new skills and contribute new ideas while maintaining a positive attitude.”

chaseChase Murphy graduated from Robert C. Byrd High School in 2014. Chase has worked hard as a student here at WVJC to be successful. Instructor Aaron Jones had this to say, “Chase is very bright young student who is always willing to lend a helping hand. Chase gets along well with his classmates and really enjoys his classes.” Chase is a great student but says that he has not done it alone. “My favorite parts of this college,” Murphy says, “are the other students and how friendly everyone is. “

WVJC would like to take a moment to congratulate both Chase and Harley on this great accomplishment and we look forward to seeing what their future brings!
