A West Virginia native, Julie Davis-Whetsell began her nursing career over a decade ago. After receiving her BSN Summa Cum Laude from West Virginia University in 2005, and starting her career as a Medical/Surgical ICU nurse, Julie returned to WVU and obtained a Master’s of Science in Nursing in 2007.
At WVU, Julie was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, and the recipient of the Judith Kanzari Nursing Scholarship awarded yearly to one nursing student. With her MSN, Julie became ANCC certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and she spent 9 years working in a women’s health specialty surgical practice.
Through all of that time, Julie knew she had a passion for teaching, and she regularly mentored nursing and nurse practitioner students in her practice. She is proud to be a member of the WVJC Nursing Faculty, and looking forward to making education the primary focus of her nursing career.
To keep her educational edge sharp, Julie continues to practice as a nurse practitioner, as well, seeing patients with the Department of Reconstructive, Plastic, and Hand Surgery of WVU Medicine.
