Information Technology Student Highlight – Michael Tabor

Michael TaborMichael Tabor is enrolled in the Information Technologyprogram at West Virginia College Charleston and is also one of our wonderful work studies! Michael is around and able to help with any IT issues we may have. Michael graduated from Scott High School in 1997. He had not attended college before coming to West Virginia Junior College-Charleston but he did attend an Auto Mechanic program through a Vocational school.

Before attending WVJC, Michael worked in the coal mines for 19 years. He was working 7 days a week and finally decided he wanted to go in a different direction with his career.  When asked why he chose WVJC, “Mrs. Kellie was so nice and I was happy there was an option to come to class on ground. I was looking for a hands on program, which is why I chose to go into IT.”

“My favorite part of attending WVJC is the student life. We volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and got to help build a house. We also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House.” Michael said his favorite teachers are Mr. Batman and Mr. Pinkerton.

One of his goals is to finish his Bachelor’s Degree and be able to work for a great company as a Network Administrator.
