CHARLESTON, WV – On Saturday, December 7 the newest class of graduates from West Virginia Junior College Charleston Campus were honored with a special winter graduation ceremony. The event took place at Christ Church United Methodist located in downtown Charleston. Thirty-seven graduates walked and 49 were honored.
The ceremony began by honoring two students with the Spirit of WVJC Award. This award honors graduates that have shown exemplary academic performance, have maintained a positive a forward-thinking approach, and have upheld the values of education and excellence that West Virginia Junior College continually preserves. The two winners were both Medical Assisting students, Pamela Willis and Barbara Lindsey. Additionally, an Instructor of the Year award was presented to Tom Pinkterton, IT Instructor.
The commencement speaker was the Executive Director of TechConnect WV, Anne Barth. She spoke to the students about pursuing dreams past graduation, whether it be continuing education or finding a great career. Her words really stuck with graduates as they get ready to take their next step.
