CHARLESTON, WV – As an act of student appreciation and early Fourth of July celebration, WVJC Charleston held a summer picnic on Tuesday, July 2. The festivities took place at Coonskin Park, just a few minutes outside downtown Charleston.
Students were encouraged to bring their families for an afternoon of food and fun. The school supplied hamburgers, hot dogs, topping and drinks. Students from each program also contributed side dishes, chips and desserts. One of the most popular sides was a watermelon carved into a fruit basket. After eating, students and their families played on the playground and participated in yard games.
Medical Coordinator, Cindy Campbell stated, “I love having picnics! It’s great to get the students out of the school for an afternoon and let them enjoy themselves”. Business Coordinator, Jennie Peal, echoed Mrs. Campbell’s feelings. “The picnic was so much fun and we had such a great turnout! It’s so nice to see students being involved with a school event and having fun at the same time!”
Over 100 people attended the picnic and a great time was had by all! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped organize the event.
