Dental Assisting Student Highlight – Katherine Ireland-Taylor

CHARLESTON, WV – Dental Assisting student Katherine Ireland-Taylor decided to attend West Virginia Junior College to better her future with a career she would enjoy. The school offered a program she was interested in and she knew she could get a degree in a reasonable amount of time.

“Before I came to school I was working as a security officer for a coal mine during their hoot owl shift,” Katie said. “When I came [to school] my financial aid from my previous school was behind. I had to quit work and uproot my life.”

While this challenge proved difficult, Katie has beaten her challenges.

“With the support of my family and wonderful husband, I adjusted and overcame,” she said.

Katie will graduate in February and be ready to start her career in the dental field.

“Once I graduate, I am looking for a great and long-term career in a field I enjoy while continuing to further my knowledge,” Katie said. “I would like to thank my grandmother, my husband, and my friend Matt. They always had faith in me that I could make it.”

Congratulations to Katie and best of luck with her future success!
