BRIDGEPORT, WV – West Virginia Junior College Bridgeport Campus offers a Dental Assisting Specialized Associate Degree program which can be completed in as little as 18 months.
This short-term and hands-on program teaches skills necessary for a position as a Dental Assistant including Dental Radiology, Dental Material Handling and Manipulation, Dental Practice Management and Chair-Side Assisting. In addition to laboratory and classroom courses during the program, students complete a required Dental Externship in the field before graduation.
Dental Assisting Coordinator, Vanessa Partain said, “I feel that one of the best parts of our DA program is the required Dental Externship. Students receive at least 90 hours of in-office training from area dentists which assists with true dental office experience. My objective as the Dental Coordinator is to make sure my students receive the training they need in order to succeed in the dental field!”
Rachel Hamrick is a current Dental Assisting student at WVJC Bridgeport. She said, “Bring in the Dental Assisting program has been an exciting experience because I am working toward my future and it is passing by very quickly. It is an enjoyable program with a friendly and fun learning environment. The hands-on learning is definitely my favorite part of the curriculum.”
